Saber vs Sword

Taiji Saber (Dao) — Single-edged, broader blade, typically used with wider sweeping movements. Often preferred by practitioners who train more expressive, flowing forms.

Taiji Sword (Jian) — Double-edged, narrower blade, traditionally associated with precision and refinement. Often chosen by practitioners focused on controlled movement and collectors drawn to elegant lines.

Practice vs Collection

For Practice — Look for balanced weight, reliable fittings, and steel appropriate for repeated handling. Models labeled for practice tend to prioritize function over ornament.
